Thank you for applying to speak at the thematic discussions in preparations for the ministerial segment of the 62nd session of the Commission of Narcotic Drugs (CND) taking place on September 25-27 2018 in Vienna.
We are very pleased to inform you that the Civil Society Task Force (CSTF) has nominated you as one of the speakers.
Please confirm your availability and the mode of your statement (in person or video message) as soon as possible but no later than September 3 and carefully read the below information on the requirements of your statement.
The meeting will be held September 25-27 2018 from 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM and 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM in Boardroom C (4th floor) VIC, Vienna, Austria. For each thematic segment 5 NGOs will have the possibility to present their work and positioning. There will be one panelist and 4 interventions from the floor (see list of speakers below). Each speaker will have 5 minutes to present his or her work on the thematic focus of the day (see the official CND Workplan for details) either in person or via prerecorded video message. The meeting will be webcast on the CND website.
If you are speaking in person:
You will have 5 minutes to present your statement during the event. Please send in your full statement and any power-point presentation (if you are using one) as soon as possible but no later than 11 September 2018. Make sure your statement reflects the abstract you provided in your application. Interpretation in official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) will be available but we ask that any powerpoint presentations are in English. As there will be no pre-determined order of speakers please make sure you are able to attend the full day of your thematic segment.
Please note that no funding is available to cover your travel to and accommodation in Vienna.
If you are sending a video message:
You will have 5 minutes to present your views. Please send in your video message and a complete transcript as soon as possible but no later than 11 September 2018. Make sure your statement reflects the abstract you provided in your application. Interpretation in official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish) will be available.
In order to ensure that your video is of good quality and can be played at the day of the event please make sure that:
- you film indoors in a well-lit environment
- avoid background noises and use a quiet room to film
- when using your computer to record your video we suggest using VLC Player (https://www.vlchelp.com/how-to-record-webcam-video-
- using-vlc-media-player/) or the QuickTime Player (for Mac users) (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201066)
- your transcript has to match what is said in the video, without a proper transcript the video will not be translated
- make sure you use a common file format (such as .mp4, .avi, .mkv)
- use a file sharing platform to transmit your video to avoid sending large amount of data via email
Please be aware that if the video quality is insufficient we may ask you to reshoot your video message.
We would like to publish your statement/ video message on the CSTF website. (www.cstf.org) Please let us know if you do not consent to publishing your statement/ video message.
